Eyebrow Transplantation
Eyebrow Transplantation is the name given to the process of transplanting hair grafts extracted from the body in the sparse eyebrow.
Eyebrows are one of the most characteristics of the face. It is very important that the eyebrows are in harmony with the other parts of the face. That’s why many people want their eyebrows to be beautiful and even. For this reason, many people want to have Eyebrow Transplantation so that they can have appropriate and beautifully protected eyebrows. Eyebrow Transplantation can be applied for both men and women. However, this procedure is generally preferred by women.
How Is Eyebrow Transplantation Performed?
Eyebrow Transplantation is performed in three stages, just like Hair Transplantation.
- Extracting the follicles
- Opening channels(holes)
- Transplanting the Grafts
However, there is a very important point here that the angle of the eyebrows is different from the angle of the donor hair. While hair follicles grow at an average angle of 45 degrees, eyebrows grow at an average angle of 15 degrees. In addition, the growth directions of the hairs in the inner and outer areas of the eyebrows even vary within themselves. While the starting point of the eyebrow extends upwards, the last point of the eyebrow extends downwards. For this reason, especially “Transplanting the Grafts”, the last stage, requires great attention and experience. While the grafts are being transplanted, the angle should be adjusted correctly and the direction should be positioned to complete the shape of the eyebrow.
Things to know about Eyebrow Transplantation
As in every transplantation, the grafts used in Eyebrow Transplantation will shed initially. Shedding starts 15 days after the operation and continues for up to 3 months. For this reason, people who will undergo this operation should prefer this only after they become aware that the transplanted eyebrows will start to grow after 3 months. It takes 1 year for the transplanted grafts to fully grow.
Another important point is that the growth rates of hair and eyebrows are different. A strand of hair grows 2 times faster than an eyebrow strand. Thus, the need and frequency of care for the eyebrows will be high. However, the hair follicles transplanted after an average of 1 year will slow down their growth rate by taking on the characteristics of the area where they are transplanted.
It should be noted that hair and eyebrow colors of individuals may vary. So, it is an important point that people who want to have eyebrow transplantation should know that there may be a color difference after transplantation.
What are the Causes of Eyebrow Loss?
Eyebrows can shed due to various external factors, especially genetics. However, among the most common causes of eyebrow loss are
- Uncontrolled eyebrow removal
- Pelade,
- Various skin diseases,
- Permanent make-ups that are wrong and affect the skin badly,
- Various treatments like as chemotherapy.
